How would you consult these women?

Select from the videos below for more information on cervical screening and HPV result patient consultations.

Patient Video 1

Sally, 25 years old

This case demonstrates the benefits of taking a conservative approach to treatment as the patient is young and the cervical screening test only mildly abnormal. Her results show that she has low grade precancerous cells (CIN1) and hrHPV was detected.

Patient Video 2

Rachel, 35 years old

This case demonstrates the benefits of taking a conservative approach to treatment as the patient has a low grade abnormality and hrHPV was detected. The case also highlights issues around pregnancy. It reinforces messages about the transmission of the virus and the slow progression of the disease.

Patient Video 3

Nadia, 45 years old

This case deals with an approach where women from certain communities and cultures are poorly compliant in screening and follow-up. It also illustrates measures that GPs could take to improve uptake of cervical screening. Furthermore the video covers the approach taken with a 45 old woman who has a low grade cervical screening test result and has completed her family.

*The films are designed as discussion pieces and Roche would like to emphasise that the consultants in the films are real consultants and have provided dialogue for the film scripts. Roche did not script the clinician conversation, but have scripted the patient questions, as the patients are played by actors. The clinician is discussing the case with the patient as they would in practice. Please note that although viewed as best practice this may be open for interpretation and local variation.

The clinicians involved in the filming practiced in both the NHS and the private sector at the time of filming.
